today's goodwill finds

So, after seeing this cute idea on Design*Sponge this morning, I was inspired to stop by the closest Goodwill on my way home earlier today. Look at all of the great things I found! All for $20 :) Gotta love it.

Vintage pillowcases for my cocktail napkin project (see above)

A cool wall hanging handmade in Peru!

Awesome green glass dishes... set of 4 for $12 :)

A lovely painting of a giraffe. He is so handsome!

A great Ball mason jar with a glass lid

Thank goodness for thrifting. It's so inspiring. I didn't find what I was looking for, an enamel pot for my yarn dyeing, but I sure found really cool stuff for 20 bucks. Amazing. Now I need to go search out the other places. I think there are some good ones down the street...and one really interesting place that's only open on Saturdays. I need to be sure to TAKE some loads to the thrift stores, too :) I found this great coat and this awesome skirt a couple of years ago at a thrift store in Nashville.  What are your favorite thrifting finds?

Spring faves

Spring faves by elletrain
Spring faves, a photo by elletrain on Flickr.
So, I'm addicted to nail polish. I may have mentioned this before. Here are a few of my favorites for this Spring. The nice thing is, they are cheap brands, too! And unlike OPI lately for me (which I still love) they seem to stay on really well. I have had to cut out manicures from my budget lately since we're moving, but I've been greatly impressed with the staying power of these inexpensive polish brands. My next goal is to find a great shelf in which to display all of my nail polish in my bathroom. Or in which to display SOME of my nail polish. I have a lot. Maybe a cool vintage spice rack? I hope I find something cute.

New awesome ring

Here is a photo of the orange I'm wearing today, with a cute new eagle ring I scored at an amazing new shop in East Nashville called Old Made Good. It's vintage AND handmade AND super cool. Plus, they gave me a margarita when I walked in today! I think it's their grand opening. PLEASE visit if you are in Nashville. You will love it. Happy Weekend!! xoxo

Goodwill strikes again... my awesome find

Yay! A new coat for $6! It's from Sears, back in the 70's. Love this. I've been looking for one for a while. I didn't find much else at Goodwill today, but this was an awesome purchase. I also bought a couple of books at the bookstore today for Christmas gifts. When all else fails, buy books. You know some people are very difficult to buy for and I feel like it should almost be required to send out a Christmas wish list to all of your family so they know what to get you. In fact, I will send one out to my family right now! I think it will include:

-gift certificate to purlsoho.com OR knit-purl.com, or to Bliss Yarns, my local yarn shop
-anything from the home section of Anthropologie (esp. if there's a bird on it)
-a list of some of my favorite sellers on etsy.com (including matteart, sarahearn, and chezsucrechez)

...and maybe a gift card to Goodwill...hahahaha!

Help your family out...send them a wishlist!

How Much I love Goodwill

So, I got a hankering to do some shopping today, but since we just got back from a vacation to the Northwest, I figured I shouldn't spend much. We had a Goodwill store open recently just down the street from us, so I headed down there.

I found 2 skirts, 2 tank tops, 2 blouses, a crocheted dress, a groovy red belt, and some awesome vintage Bandolino shoes all for $32!! It's very fun to be creative and shop for items you might not normally buy in a regular store. I found this great flowered skirt that is high-waisted and will look cute with a tank top and heels. I've been wanting a red belt forever and this one is perfect.

Yay for Goodwill! So, our trip to Seattle and Portland was AMAZING. I did a horrible job of taking pictures of the cool yarn shops I visited and the great boutiques we walked by. But let me just say I love the Pacific Northwest. More later on the trip, but I'm off to eat spinach pasta for lunch now :)
